Make every dish sell itself.
People eat with their eyes first. Before a single bite, a customer has already decided what they want based on how it looks: on the menu, on the board, and especially in the delivery app. When the photo is flat, the dish sells flat too. When the photo makes someone hungry, it sells itself, and it sells the high-margin plates you actually want to move. That is what menu photography does. At Gotham Studios, we make food look as good on screen as it does coming off the pass. Food and beverage is all we do, so we know how to style, light, and shoot a dish until it is the most appetizing thing on the page.
What is menu photography?
Menu photography is appetizing and consistent imagery of your prepared dishes and drinks, built for menus, menu boards, online ordering, and delivery apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash. It is also the recipe and prepared-food photography that food brands use across packaging and marketing. The job is simple: make the food look so good that people order it.
Why invest in professional menu photography?
Because it is one of the highest-return things you can shoot. Strong menu photography can lift sales by 20 to 45% and boost online-ordering conversions by 25% or more, largely by selling your highest-margin items harder. On a delivery app, your photo is the entire storefront: it is the only thing standing between a scroll and an order. It also works everywhere at once. One set of professional menu photos feeds your printed menu, your website, your ordering platforms, your social, and your email, all in one consistent look. That consistency is what separates a professional menu from an amateur one.
Deep food expertise, not a rented camera
Making food genuinely appetizing on camera is a craft, and it is one we have practiced thousands of times. We have shot over 1,000 recipes for food brands, so we know exactly how to make a dish hold up under lights and look its best in frame. Every shoot runs on a solid pre-production process: we align the shot list, props, and settings in advance so the day runs clean. When we shoot in a restaurant, our own food stylist works hand in hand with your chef, because that’s what takes the result from good to unforgettable.
Built for restaurants and food brands
For restaurants, cafes, bars, bakeries, and coffee shops, we shoot for restaurants that drive orders across the room, the app, and the board. For food brands, we shoot recipe and prepared-food imagery for packaging, marketing, and campaigns. We also hop behind the bar for craft beverage photography and drink photography alike.
Studio or your kitchen
We shoot studio food photography in professional spaces, we partner with studios across the country, or we shoot on location at your venue. On location we simply need enough room and time to do it right; a cramped line at peak service will not cut it, so we often shoot overnight or off-hours to get the space and the shot without ever interrupting your business.

Frequently Asked Questions
It’s appetizing, consistent photography of your prepared dishes and drinks, made for menus, menu boards, online ordering, and delivery apps. For food brands, it’s the recipe and prepared-food imagery used across packaging and marketing. The goal is always the same: make the food look so good people order it.
Stylized photography puts your product in a creative scene with props and dramatic lighting. Lifestyle puts real people in the shot. Menu photography is about the food itself, styled and lit to look its most appetizing, and consistent across your entire menu.
Yes, absolutely. We shoot to the specs your platforms need, whether that is Uber Eats, DoorDash, your online ordering system, or your printed menu, so every image is ready to drop in.
Yes, we provide everything: recipe prep, food styling, and a chef when needed. Or we integrate with your team; if your restaurant's chef wants to handle part of it, we still bring our own food stylist to guarantee the result.
Both. We partner with studios across the country, and we can shoot on location at your venue when there is enough space and time, often overnight or off-hours so we never interrupt service.
For high-end menu photography, around eight to ten dishes a day, and sometimes as few as six when the quality bar is highest. You will see proofs within a few days to a week, with final edited images roughly a week after that.
Menu shoots are priced by the day. A full day covers roughly eight to ten finished dishes and includes a photographer, a food stylist and assistant, and per-image retouching. Tell us your menu and we will build the budget around it.
Our standard usage covers your website, social, and in-store and menu print. Broadcast, out-of-home like billboards, and large or global paid campaigns carry extended licensing, which we quote up front so there are no surprises.
We can, though menu and lifestyle run as separate units on the day, because a menu dish and a lifestyle scene need different plating, though shooting them back to back at one location still saves on setup. We did exactly this for Hard Rock, capturing menu and lifestyle at once with separate units.
Let's make your menu impossible to scroll past.
